1.        Get started


The first step that needs to be done is to go to the https://apex.oracle.com page and click “get started for free” at the top of the page. The next page will show a display like an image above; select “request a free workspace”. After that, you will be asked to fill in your data and wait for a confirmation email, leading you to create a password and then take you to the homepage.

2.        Homepage


The homepage contains several buttons listed at the top, namely App Builder, SQL Workshop, Team Development, and App Gallery. Select the app-builder button, which includes options for creating a new application in three ways.


In the option “new application” means adding pages to the data that is already available. Another option is to upload files in CSV, XLSX, XML, or JSON; you can also copy and paste data and then create an application. The last option is to install a sample application via the application gallery and let’s try selecting the last option, a Productivity App. On the next page, various sample options will be displayed, such as data reporter, sample calendar, quick poll, survey builder, sample database application, and other options. For example, choose a sample database application.

3.        Sample Database Application


 

After selecting the sample database application, you will face a page like the one above, click the install button, and follow the next installation steps. Start running the application with the ‘run’ button, and below is a sample application page that will be displayed, which is an application about sales of a business. In this example, you can see that you can create various information menus.


4.        Data

After viewing the sample application, you can start preparing data and enter some data into the workspace to build your first application. You can start with an existing data model or create a new one from scratch. You can use SQL Workshop, which allows you to design or import a data model from your browser or use the built-in Quick SQL feature to create a data model using a simple short syntax. Some processing data options include uploading from a file, using quick SQL, or using sample datasets. Upload the file as a spreadsheet, XML, or JSON and upload it as the basis for the data model. Quick SQL for building data models quickly using shorthand syntax. Sample datasets are provided in SQL Workshop or are available as part of the Create App from Sheets wizard.

5.        Application Development

Once you have the data available, you can use the application creation wizard and edit any pages to develop additional Page Designer pages. You can quickly run the page to see your changes live in a new browser tab on the page designer. For simple projects, deploying the app can be as easy as sharing the runtime URL and granting end-user access. You can export and import applications as a single file for systems that separate development and production environments.
